How to Find a New Hair Stylist

With the exception of (perhaps) our doctors, our hairstylists are possibly the hardest professionals in our lives.
If you have a really great stylist, you’ll know what I mean – they just GET you. You walk in, looking for a new color or style, and they seem to read your mind, and leave you looking fabulous, every time. If you’ve ever been to a really awful stylist, you’ll know why that’s so important.
But sometimes, things happen. You move. They move. Whatever. You’re left without a stylist, and a few weeks till your next haircut or color.
Finding a new stylist takes a little research. Visit the salons in the area. Speak to clients. Look at the women walking in, and out. Speak to the stylist. Get referrals. All of these steps should add up to making the transition between your old, and new, stylists a little less traumatic.
When you do book your first appointment with your new stylist, don’t opt for a major change – ease into that – once the trust has been built up.
Secret tip #61: Never let a new stylist brow beat you. You know what you want. Tell them. Then make sure they do exactly that. Later on, once you know each other better, you might take their advice, but not before. Or you might end up shopping for hats…
