How to Get Professional (Almost) Hairstyling at a Budget Price

August 6th, 2009 / Posted in Editor's Blog by Cozy Editor

If you’re feeling the pressure to cut back on costs that most of us are thanks to the recession, you might have to sacrifice your trips to the hair salon.

The trouble is, hair is one of those things that you really need professional help with. You can’t style, color or cut hair yourself, unless you know what you’re doing. So what are your options?

I’ve come up with a genius way to get almost professional results on a budget – go to student hair stylists! Find a college or training school for beauticians and hairstylists in your area, and find out what their policies are. Often, these students have projects and assignments, and need models.

Chances are, you’ll get a great cut, color or style, at a fraction of the cost, or even for free! Make sure you check the fine print though – sometimes, these students have a specific task, and you might end up with all your long locks gone, if that task is to cut a really short style…

Secret tip #62: Another way to save on trips to the hair dresser is to choose a lower maintenance style. Longer layers look great, even weeks after a cut, and there are other options you can look at that will give you less frequent visits.
