Thumbtack Art Artist Andre Woolery utilises everyday objects like thumbtacks to produce meticulous renditions of black icons in pop culture. Using thousands of thumbtacks for each large-scale piece, Woolery was originally inspired by the bright colours of breakfast cereal Fruit Loops. The artist does a spot-on job of recreating portraits of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Jimi Hendrix and U.S. President Barack Obama. In addition, Woolery created a giant replica of the one hundred dollar bill entitled It's 'All About the Benjamins', replacing Benjamin Franklin with Benjamin Banneker, a free African-American who was an accomplished astronomer, mathematician, surveyor, almanac author and farmer.
