We’re big on caffeine and we most definitely love our coffee! Though we often find ourselves (guiltily) drinking down the instant kind, the real joy is a cup of coffee brewed the proper way.
Here are our favourite methods and machines for that perfect cuppa joe.
1. Percolator
A coffee percolator is said to be the choice of the “purists.” It works in two ways: one, by forcing boiling water under pressure through the grounds into a separate chamber or two, by continually cycling the boiling brew through the grounds using gravity until the required strength is reached. Enthusiasts praise the percolator's hotter, more 'robust' coffee under a watchful eye during the brewing process.
2. Nespresso Machine
This is our office’s pride and joy—ever since we got it we’ve enjoyed trying the pods that give us more than enough variety. From intensity level 6 to 9, or choosing between a light, floral aroma or an intense, bitter blend, this machine gets coffee newbies hooked and caffeine lovers raving.
3. Drip Coffee
The easiest way to enjoy nice brews, drip coffee involves pouring water over roasted and ground beans, passing through a filter and into your cup. Filters can be paper or specially made screens. Machines are available for this as well and are popular in most homes and cafes. We like drip-coffee the manual way, topped with a little whipped milk for instant cappucinos.

Beat the caffeine club and explore cafes that offer the ultimate coffee experience. Our latest favourite is Loysel’s Toy, named after Edward Loysel de Santais who created the world’s first commercial coffee machine. Enjoy!
