The Duke of Edinburgh sought medical treatment for a bladder infection on Monday (04Jun12), causing him to miss the star-studded Diamond Jubilee concert held outside Buckingham Palace on Monday night to mark his wife Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year reign. He spent five nights in the U.K. capital's King Edward VII Hospital and on Saturday he was discharged from the facility. Prince Philip smiled and waved at well-wishers, and also thanked the staff at the hospital for their care. Asked if he was feeling better, he nodded and said, "I wouldn't be coming out otherwise." A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace says, "Prince Philip has been released from hospital and continues to make good progress. He will continue his convalescence at home and will be spending the weekend privately."
