Classical pianist mitsuko uchida to receive prestigious award

Classical pianist DAME MITSUKO UCHIDA is to be honoured with one of the highest accolades in the genre, the Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Gold Medal.

The Japanese musician, who has lived in London for over three decades, has been widely recognised for her performances of classic Mozart and Schubert compositions and her work has now been hailed by British officials at the RPS. The 63 year old will be presented with the prestigious prize at a ceremony in London on 8 May (12). Uchida was appointed a Commander of the British Empire in 2001 and made a Dame in 2009.
