New annie selected for broadway

An 11-year-old Californian has beaten out 5,000 hopefuls to land the coveted role of Broadways' new ANNIE.

Producers spent nine months seeking out young talent for the role and they have announced Lilla Crawford will play the singing orphan in a new production of the Tony Award-winning musical later this year (12). Crawford, who made her Broadway debut last year (11) in Billy Elliot, tells BroadwayWorld.com, "Oh, my gosh, it happened! My heart just stopped. I thought it would be so cool just to be a part of Annie, but to actually be playing Annie is a dream come true!"
