When it comes to classy comfort food, a warm, rich dish of mussels in a creamy beer and garlic sauce, mopped
up with crusty bread has to be right up there with the very best options.
They’re so simple to make too. All you need are some half shell mussels, butter, a finely chopped onion, crushed garlic and chopped herbs, beer, and cream. To make them, you would first melt the butter, and then sauté the onions garlic and herbs until they are soft and fragrant. Then add the mussels and beer and cook for a few minutes or until the mussels are done. This usually takes about three minutes.
Remove the mussels, and then reduce the sauce by about half, add the cream, season, and pour over the mussels. Simple, classy, and ready in minutes for a starter or a decadent main meal.
