You might not even be aware that your car has one of these, but the fuel filter is a little component in your engine that does a lot! Sometimes, fuel is not completely clean when it leaves your tank as there could be rust or other contaminants in it. If these contaminants, reaches your engine, they could cause a lot of trouble. Thankfully, with the fuel filter, your engine is protected from damage due to those contaminants.
Your fuel filters needs to be replaced once a year and is easy to replace. Make sure you have your new fuel filter and new fuel line washers ready. Turn off your engine, and carefully remove the fuel line – there may be fuel in the line, but not much – just remember to keep it away from your eyes! Then, simply loosen the old filter, and attach the new one. This requires you to retighten the bolts, and reattach the fuel line.
