Most of us don’t think of fire safety when we get in our cars, do we? We get in and drive, unthinking that there are gallons of flammable liquid a few feet from us, and sparks all over the engine. Anything could go wrong, but we take it for granted that it won’t. If you want to practice good fire safety in your car, you need to have two types of fire extinguisher on hand at all times -one for electrical fires and one for fuel fires. These use different formulations, and you should always ensure that you use the right one for the right job. Fire extinguishers also don’t have unlimited life spans – they do need replacing from time to time. They should also be serviced once a year, to make sure that when you need them, they are ready for action.
