Cronenbergs make history at cannes film festival

Moviemaker DAVID CRONENBERG and his son Brandon have made Cannes Film Festival history by becoming the first father and son to debut films at the event.

The revered filmmaker's Cosmopolis opens In Competition later this week (beg21May12), while his son's Antiviral will be under consideration for the festival's Un Certain Regard prize. The Cronenberg's sat down for a joint press conference in Cannes on Monday (21May12), and joked about their history-making feat. Cronenberg, Sr. said, "It is pretty great to see Brandon going up the red carpet. I said to people it took me 20 years to get to Cannes and look, here he is with his first film. It was very touching and terrific."
