Frank ocean wanted album to be released anonymously

Hip-hop star FRANK OCEAN refused to put his name on the cover of his upcoming album and had to be talked into allowing it to feature in TV advertisements because he wants the work to stand on its own.

The Novacane singer, a member of California rap collective Odd Future, shies away from the spotlight when he can and admits he faced a real battle with record executives over his determination to keep his debut release Channel Orange label-free. Ocean tells the New York Times, "The work is the work. The work is not me. I like the anonymity that directors can have about their films. Even though it's my voice, I'm a storyteller. As a lifestyle you always being the focal point is innately unhealthy." The singer managed to keep his moniker off the album artwork entirely - he even named his beloved pet dog Everest as the project's executive producer in his place.
