Gregg allman still feels late brothers presence
Veteran rocker GREGG ALLMAN can still feel the presence of his late brother Duane, more than 40 years after he was killed in an horrific motorcycle accident.

Duane Allman died in Macon, Georgia in 1971, aged just 24, and his passing sent the Ramblin' Man hitmaker into a deep depression. The musician relives the grief he suffered following the tragedy for his new memoir My Cross to Bear, in which he opens up about the heartache he battles every day as a result of the loss of his younger sibling, the co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band who inspired him to keep pursuing his musical dreams. He writes, "I left home the day after I graduated from high school because I knew we weren't going to make any dough (money) to pay the rent in music. The Beatles had just come out and there was serious, serious dudes out there. And the competition, I mean, they were good players, too. My brother said, 'They ain't as good as us, baby (sic)!' He would coax me along every step of the way. I would just love to hear one concert if he was still here." But the 64 year old admits he still shares a connection with Duane from beyond the grave. He adds, "I can tell when he's there, man. I'm not going to get all cosmic on you. But listen, he's there."
