Katy perry debuts heartbreak song from a swing at awards show

KATY PERRY performed her "most intimate" tune Wide Awake suspended in a swing high above the stage at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (20May12).

Dressed like a Victorian bride, the pop star didn't set foot on the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as she opened up about her split from husband Russell Brand in the lyrics of the heartbreak tune, with sky-high acrobats and dancers. Accepting her Spotlight Award at the beginning of the night, Perry told fans Wide Awake was the "most personal" tune she has ever written. Brand and Perry split late last year (11) and their divorce is expected to be finalised over the summer (12).
