Stone roses had furious bust-up at reunion rehearsal
Reformed rockers STONE ROSES had a furious bust-up at their first rehearsal for their comeback shows before even playing a note of music.

The cult British band, who split in acrimony in 1996, have put their differences behind them to announce a hotly-anticipated reunion tour this year (12). Many critics feared the group's comeback would be doomed because of the sometimes frosty relationship bet - singer Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire, and it's now emerged their first day back in the studio was marred by an argument - over rumours of an unauthorised biography of the band. Author Simon Spence was planning to pen the tome, titled The Stone Roses: War and Peace, in collaboration with the group's drummer Alan 'Reni' Wren, but news of the book caused friction when the rockers came together to rehearse. Spence tells Culture magazine, "I was told that Reni walked into the first rehearsal to see Ian and John hunched over the article, and there was an almighty row, the first of several. Then, understandably, Reni and (bassist Gary) Mani (Mounfield) decided they weren't going to ruin the reunion over a book, so Reni pulled out and left me high and dry."
