Even if you plan to use disposable diapers for your baby, I can’t stress enough how having a few old
fashioned terry cloth diapers around can help.
I’ve always got one or two in my little one’s diaper bag, and they’ve done duty as burping cloths when she was really small, doubled as a towel when the towel mysteriously ended up wet after a particularly energetic bath time, and even, when clean, been an extra blanket in the car.
They’re so cheap, that it doesn’t matter if they get stained, so they’re perfect for cleaning up messes, or serving as a mobile changing mat, and if they do get stained, bleach followed by fabric softener is usually all it takes to get them looking good as new again. And because they’re cheap, you can stock up, so that there’s always a clean one on hand when you need it.
Then again, having cloth diapers, and knowing how to use them, is always a good idea, in case you run out of diapers somewhere where you can’t get any more immediately!
