If you color your hair, chances are you contend with fading color. Color that looks great when it goes on, doesn’t look so fabulous a couple of weeks down the line. However, there are ways you can help your hair color to last longer.

Firstly, use a clarifying shampoo before you color your hair – whether at a salon or at home. Product build up can cause color to not penetrate as well, which will mean a faster fade.

Another good idea is to make sure that your hair is in great condition before you color it. Damaged hair will not hold color as well as hair that’s in good shape, so try a strengthening mask before you color. Lastly, use a shampoo that is specifically formulated for colored hair. This will keep your color fresh for longer.

While most of us shriek in horror at the sight of a grey hair, there are women out there who are working their grey hair, and looking fabulous!

And since there are some people who go grey as early as their twenties, grey hair really isn’t a sign of age! If you are considering giving up the hassle of hair dye, and going au naturel, there are a few things to bear in mind.

Firstly, if you’ve been dying your hair, you will have to let the grey grow back gradually. When you visit the salon for your trim, have them add highlights or lowlights, to help camouflage the difference in color.

Secondly, when hair goes grey, whether you dye it or not, the texture changes, becoming coarser, drier, and even sometimes developing a curl! Make sure you invest in a very good conditioner – there are some that are designed especially for grey hair.

I have to admit, I’ve been blessed with straight hair – I envy those with waves and curls. But I have lots of friends who dream of sleek and straight locks, and I’ve been doing some research on their behalf. Here’s what I’ve discovered.

The most important thing to consider is do you want a permanent change, or just a temporary difference? If it’s permanently straight locks that you want, book a trip to the hair salon! Like perms, straightening uses some strong chemicals, and if you’re not careful, you could end up with a major disaster!

If you want a temporary taming of your curls, a GHD or another straightening iron is the simplest way to go. That, and some silicone or serum spray, and you’ll have the smoothest hair in town.

Beauty experts everywhere agree: perfect, sculpted, precision eyebrows are the single most important thing you can do to open up your eyes, and you face. Problem is, having your brows plucked by a professional can be pricey, and if you’re on a limited budget, having them done by a salon every time may not be an option.

Luckily for me though, I’ve got a foolproof plan to get perfect brows, and keep them. It’s not free, but it will save you money. The very first step is to find someone who does really amazing eyebrows. Look for a salon or beauty therapist who really is an artist, or ask around – I can guarantee you, once you find someone who’s brilliant with brows, you don’t easily forget.

Then, book an appointment, and have them do their magic on your bushy old brows. Once they’re transformed, upkeep is easy, as long as you have a good pair of tweezers, and a magnifying mirror.

Use the professional shape they’ve created, and simply maintain it by plucking any stray hairs that appear.
