Superfan snaps up ricky gervais unsold artwork
A RICKY GERVAIS painting which failed to sell at an auction in Scotland has been snapped up by one of the comedian's fans.

The Office creator was left red-faced after his Sunset Cityscape piece attracted no bids when it went under the hammer at a charity fundraiser in Inverness' Inchmore Gallery on Saturday (07Jul12). However, gallery owner Jane Owen has now announced the canvas has a new home. In a post on the gallery's Facebook.com page, she writes, "EXCITEMENT!!!!!! After being inundated with phone calls... I am as please (sic) as punch to announce that the Ricky Gervais painting has been sold to a HUGE fan of his." Gervais confirmed the good news on his Twitter.com page, posting, "My painting raised £1,700 for charity. Thanks to everyone who bid. And please give generously to all cancer charities." Proceeds will be handed to Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, a charity which provides support to patients diagnosed with the disease.
