Warne denies proposing to hurley in front of an audience

Cricket legend SHANE WARNE has laughed off reports he proposed to new fiance ELIZABETH HURLEY in front of 200 people, insisting he popped the question "privately".

Rumours surfaced on Saturday (01Oct11) that Warne had asked the Bedazzled actress to be his wife during dinner at a posh hotel in Scotland in the packed restaurant. Hurley confirmed the couple is engaged on Sunday (02Oct11), but Warne denies getting down on one knee in front of an audience. On his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Thanks so much again for all your kind messages, they mean a lot. I didn't propose in front of 200 people at dinner. It was done privately and was very romantic - if I say so myself. Ps (my) left knee is sore !!!"
