You might think that paying for your own wedding is a strange concept; however, with more and more couples getting married later in life, and second or third marriages becoming the norm, either for one or both partners, you might find that you become one of these.

In fact, with as many as four out of five couples now paying for their own weddings, it’s more likely that you will be one of them.

Research shows that the average wedding today costs $19 000, usually the breakdown is the wedding reception taking up 37%, the rings and honeymoon taking up about 14% each, 10% going to photography and 6% to clothes, with other expenses taking up the rest. However, whatever your budget, you can apply these rough percentages to it, and have a great wedding.
