Although it is not compulsory for a bride to wear a veil, it is entirely up to the bride whether she wants a veil or not.
It also depends on what will go best with the style of wedding dress that they are wearing, and whether it is a traditional or formal wedding. The options of veils for formal weddings are the Cathedral or the Chapel, both of which are either floor length, and just above the floor.
An elbow length veil is slightly less formal, and a fingertip length is used for formal and semi-formal weddings. The Blusher is more traditional, and is usually about shoulder length. This veil covers the bride’s face until she and her partner are pronounced husband and wife, after which the veil can be removed.
However, brides today don’t adhere strictly to tradition as before, and many choose not to wear a veil at all, but something that goes perfectly with the style of dress they have chosen to get married in, which is very often not a traditional wedding dress.
