  • All About Ayura

used to like this brand only for the packaging but high prices weaned me off for a while...however, everytime i get something from ayura (not makeup), i start to like it again like right now coz i got a spirit of ayura handcream as a xmas gift *love love love*

i love City Veil - definitely the best around in sunscreen

also the neck cream that i use when i remember too, it puts me right to sleep, i honestly don't know if it works for my neck

spirit of ayura perfume when i want to feel...urm...spiritual??? actually, just to relax

smooth up mask - really shrinks those pores temporarily like for 3-4 days; too expensive to maintain

i've also tried their soaps and toner/moisturizers and while they are nice, pretty pricey so never got around to buying

makeup i find, is not so hot and way too expensive; i've had a blush - nice color but texture is as fine as some cheaper brands

so what do you like from ayura?

    I like LOTS from Ayura!

I like their Sensitive Cleansing Foam. For the simple reason that I prefer something that foams when I wash my face, to creams, because I feel "cleaner". A lot of foaming cleansers are too harsh, so I'm positively overjoyed that Ayura came up with one for sensitive skins!

I also like their makeup remover...it's a creamy emulsion and I use this on days when I'm wearing very light makeup, followed by the Sensitive Cleansing foam.

Their City Veil sunblock has gotta be the best out there. I'm on my 3rd bottle now and I think I will be using this for the rest of my life!

I also like their neck cream which comes in that cute little green pot. Am on my 3rd pot now and it's kept the wrinklies at bay, and I feel it has a slight whitening effect too. Plus, the smell is just so perfect for calming you down before bedtime....

Recently I started on their Sensitive Intensive Work, which is an ampoule of serum you use 10 days continuously each month...the SA recommended it for just before your period (when skin really looks #$%!!), or after a period of illness or stress. I used to break out once a month, or at the very least, get very patchy skin, unbelievably greasy in some places and dry and flaky in others. Since I started using this stuff 3 months ago, during those 10 days (and for a good week or two after), my skin looks and feels very good! Radiant...smooth....clear...no problems at all. Gotta love this stuff!

I don't think much of their makeup. I tried their Pure Cheeks blusher before and while it was nice, the colour range is a little blah. I guess makeup-wise there are just too many more appealing brands out there. I do like their nailpolish though, they do some lovely sheer pinky shades, and their nail polish applicator is one of the best around. Firm bristles and easy to control.

i've tried quite a lot of stuff from Ayura too. Some hits and misses......

      1. Sensitive Gentle Foam
Nice creamy foam wash but i hate the smell.

      2. Purify Lucent Soap
Nothing to rave about. I prefer the Kose Seikeisho (sp?).

      3. Sensitive Balancing Primer SV1
A great time-saver cos it's a toner cum moisturizer. This is one item that i'm still using.

      4. Reviving Eyes
A light eye cream that dries easily to a velvety feel. Has light diffusing particles in there, perhaps to make the eye area look brigher? Did nothing for puffiness which is my main problem.

      5. Sensitive Deep T Clear
A gel with a special brush that is supposed to get rid of sebum and dirt trapped in the T zone. Didn't work as well as i thought. My panasonic pore cleanser does a more thorough job.

      6. Oil Control gel (can't remember the exact name)
Another so-so product. Finished the tube anyway cos didn't want to waste it.

      7. Body Scrub
A nice gentle scrub but i wouldn't repurchase it again cos there are other scrubs( TBS $9.90 ones) that work just as well and cost a fraction of the $36 price tag.

      8. Whitening Essesnce M/u base
Love this cos it evens out the skintone. Problem is that it doesn't work well with my oily skin.

      9. Lipstick
Non-drying, nice colour selection. But i won't want to pay $45 for it.

      10. Cleansing Oil
the only item that i'll repurchase. But now that i ended up with the Shu 450ml bottle, it'll be a long time b4 i need to buy cleansing oil again.

I've since moved on to trying other brands.....there're always new stuff available out there. Yup, i'm not that loyal to a particular brand :D

I love Ayura for their little GWPs , esp those that come with cute little makeup bags. I have one of this little furry pink makeup pouch that carries my daily essentials like blotters, comb, etc.

I'm on my second tub of Neck Lift . Love the scent... and I feel my neck gets the needed hydration it needs... ad keeps those lines at bay too.

I don't really massage...only sweep onto my neck with upward strokes, and I also apply it on my chest area. Very relaxing!

I only use this at night; in the daytime, it's moisturizer and sunblock that goes on my face.

              Ayura

I love stuff from Ayura too!!

Here's a run down of what I have tried and my personal comments:

              1. Sensitive Gentle Foam
I have to agree with pandora76 that this is the best I've ever had... BUt also agree with keiko that it stinks... but you'll get used to it...

              2. Purifying Eye Make off
Wow this is totally great for removing their mascara (only tried removing Ayura's mascara coze nothing else gets it all off)

              3. Vital Emerge mask (Calming)
This is one of the must haves from Ayura esp for people with sensitive skin like mine. Whenever my face break out into rashes I'll calm it down with this.... of course it doesn't do miracles but you can see that the rashes really lighten from an angry red to pinkish

              4. Sensitive Intensive work
Oh this is also one of those must haves!!! It really makes your skin so baby smooth.. even my hubby likes it... however, it's really sticky... when applied... so I use it on a cotton pad and just smooth it on...

              5. Smooth up mask
I dun really see any difference when I use this ... and I have 10 more at home unused!!!

              6. Relaxing Eye Rest Mask
I simply love this product it can make me sleep!!! It's made of some dunno wat material and it's really cooling and nice...

              7. Perfect Lash Base
My lashes are totally pokey straight so i tried using this and wow it sets my lashes and curls it!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this product! thumbs up!

              8. Long stretch mascara
I'm obsessed with long lashes and after trying this with the above lash base the result is very very satisfying!!!! Love it!! and it's smudge proof BUT you'll have to use their purifying eye makeoff to remove the mascara totally...

              9. Sensitive Balancing Primer
I tried using this since I have terribly sensitive skin... but to my dismay it's too watery and sticky for me... it doesn't really get absorbed into the skin and leaves skin looking sticky and greasy.

              10. Whitening base essence
This is a triple action make up base, it has SPF15 prevents makeup from oxidising and also helps whitening. But it makes your skin too matt and sometimes makeup just "floats" on your skin making it look wierd

              11. Cleansing oil
Their cleansing oil is not too bad although you may need to use more than once to remove your makeup thoroughly.

              12.

You mean even Cleansing oil can't remove it, Dubp?

I'm sitting up REALLY straight and listening now!!! :D I have poker straight (and WIMPY!!) lashes too so this sounds like my next holy grail!

WHat colour is the lash base? Clear or whitish? I used to have one from EL I think, back in the days when I knew nothing about makeup, and that one left a horrible white film on my lashes.

And yeah, I also wanna know....can't other makeup cleansers remove the Ayura mascara completely? Shu Uemura's cleansing oil usually does the trick with most of my waterproof mascaras, have you tried using that with the Ayura mascara before?

                    hey pan!

                    You've got me interested too

Could you describe a bit more abt why you like the City Veil sunscreen? Also do you apply that first under moisturizer then regular m/u etc?

How much does the sensitive intensive work cost??

                    Thanks girl!

Hey Debby, I like City Veil because it's really non-greasy and goes on matte....importantly, it hasn't broken me out. It actually makes a good base for makeup because it smoothens out your skin surface a little. HOwever if you apply too much of this, it will leave a slight whitish film on your face. Nothing too obvious though.

I usually put moisturizer UNDER the city veil...my reasoning is that the moisturizer needs to be 'fed' into my skin, NOT the city veil...*LOL*. Then on top of my city veil goes my concealer and benetint.

Sensitive Intensive Work costs $85 for 4 vials.

8O I'm stumped!!! Err...is this the one which you apply onto your face for awhile, then when you massage it off, it will "lift off" all your impurities and blackheads as well? It will make your skin feel slightly warm....or have I confused it with another product??

ah... The SA applied it on my hand and massaged it and it becomes warm? She said they don't have anymore samples for cooling mask so she gave me that one! Want to be sure as I have acne-prone skin & am afraid that massaging my face will irritate it.
