  • Lips turning Red

Lately my lips have been turning really red. And everyone of my friends are asking me why a guy like me is putting on lipstick for .
Apparently i didn't and i'm a little afraid that these are some syptoms of some serious illness? Have anyone of you experience this before?

Yes, most likely is heaty. When my bf got heaty, his lip turns red obviously & has sore throat as well. Doctor usually prescribes him antibiotic if infection in the sore throat.

Just drink more water & eat more fruits will do. If not, drink herbal tea ("liang cha"). oh, barley also good.

It's not getting any better. It still looks red and i feel a little pain in my upper part of my lips. There's no sign of peeling.

Well i guess i should have more fruits intake like what you suggested.

Yea! I think it might be cold sore! Because i was under the air-con from 7am - 11pm the entire day! And i was like shivering really bad. And i kept licking my own lips just to moisturize it with my saliva. Yucks.

Aeon, licking your lips is just going to make it worse. That's a definite no no.

Try using a lipbalm to moisturise instead. That might soothe the redness somewhat. Sounds like it might not be "heatines" after all. It could be all the coolness & dry air that's giving your lips a reaction.

If you think that using lipbalm might make you look a tad girlie, check out Jack Black. Made for men but I love it for myself. It's got very good sun protection & it's not sticky. I usually squirt a teeny bit onto my fingers & apply. I like how it gives lips a nice minty tingle.

A little problem might be the fact that this is not available in Singapore. If you have any friends in the US, you might wanna ask them to send you one. Costs US$6.

Heaty problem...drink more water (more than 8 glasses per day). Meanwhile, do not lick your lips, this will cause moisture loss....use The Body Shop Vit E lip Balm ... :yaya:

Reddish lips - my perpertual headache. I'd say go see a doc and get special balm/ointment instead of applying your own drugstore or high-end balms. Even if you're not peeling. If it gets worse, the doc might suggest that you go for a patch test. In case you're allergic to some common substance - like your everyday toothpaste! Not pulling your leg, cos this'd happened to me before. I have to resort to using kiddie toothpaste for a while.

Oh, same problem I have now too. I can't use normal toothpaste, only oral B or kiddie toothpaste. However, my lips have never recovered totally. If I forgot to apply TBS Lip butter in air conditioned room, my lips will peel and get some red spots in the lip edges. Luckily, still a big tube of special balm/ointment from doctor, but I don't want to rely on this so much.

glossie, can you recommend which brand of kiddie toothpaste for me? I am allergic to the Mint in normal toothpastes.

I used those LION ones. Erm.. you won't miss it. They're usually alongside the toothbrushes and toothpaste section. I don't know if Shokubutsu has kiddie toothpaste. I guess if they have kiddie bath foam, they may have kiddie everything!

Yes, I used this when I was young. Thanks, glossie. Another question: can kiddie toothpaste wash our tooth as clean as the normal toothpastes?

Oh dear. Wrong person to ask.. ha ha! Well, I guess if you're concerned then you may want to brush more often? You could double-up with a mouth rinse.
