  • Looking after your toenails

    Hi.

i have cracked toe nails all the time.
each time i trimmed them, they grow out brittle and cracked.
can anyone share your secrets towards looking after your toenails,
i do not have any problems with my fingernails though so not sure why?
whats your toe nail regime like?

problems with toe nails are mainly due to poor blood circulation, cos the toes and feet are the furthest away from the heart...so the blood and oxygen quality is much poorer..

means..if u hurt your toes or toenails with poor footwear, etc, usually it be permanent. that's why alot of pple have cracked, ridged toenails when their fingernails are ok.

what i usually do for customers with cracks and ridges on toenails is to buff them as smooth as possible, then apply ridge fillers for nail polish. if their cuticles are dry (usually the case, cos people dun bother with moisturising their poor feet), i'd recommend paraffin treatment once-twice a week.

also for dry cuticles around toenails, apply cuticle oil (can try poshe cuticle oil, cuccio papaya cuticle oil) nightly. and wear socks to sleep.

It would be better to go for pedicure every 2 weeks.
But very rare people will do it every 2 weeks...
Especially not so cheap to get it done at salon.
              Unless you DIY...

I face the same problems as you.
For me i feel, its probably because of the shoes i wear.. They often pinch my toes so tightly together and whenever i take them off,i feel like my toes nails are painful, swollen and feels like they're gonna drop off!!
However,i don't have this problems when i wear slippers instead.
Maybe you can try applying hardening top coat for your toe nails and trim them short when you wear covered shoes? Thats what i do.
