I just hosted a very well-travelled American colleague who loves architecture and tropical floral and fauna.

            Highlights:

Walk along Esplanade area for view of Singapore skyline
Long Bar at Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling (YUM!)
            Botanical Gardens
            Night Safari
            Little India

Plus a visit to his fave tailor at Far East Shopping!

I'm not Singaporean, but my fave higlights of my time there was the Night Safari and the Botanical Gardens.

depends on what they like. if nature, sungei buloh nature reserve, followed by the farms in the area would be cool. even pulau ubin if there's enough time. the zoo used to offer a special behind the scenes tour for an extra $10 or so - one of the staff would take the visitors around in a buggy on a personal tour and even sometimes let them into some of the enclosures.

if culture, then little india, chinatown, geylang. ACM I and II are also great places to visit.

and if they're up for it, then definitely hawkers centres and some more "colourful" food areas

Very true. My American colleague takes more chili than me. He likes them raw best. Urgh!

East coast park to have sea food. Most of them like to eat black-pepper crabs.
