    Hi people,

I am wondering if anybody here can tell me what are the requirements for being a pilot?

Just a curious thought since I saw one on flight stewardesses.

Wow...are you a female? It is hard for a girl to become one..but if you are really interested...can try youth flying club?

Yes..got specifc requirements..when i was younger, my bro and I received mails form them yearly to join their activities. Right now, my brother is selcted for pilopt training at RSAF, he is brought to youth flying club for "Flying experience Program" Not so sure what is that about. So YSC is the nearest to flying i can think of =)

thanks for the websites! i've been to SIA's webby and never got to see the link above hehe. maybe i've missed it but anyways. did a search for it but had tons of nonsensical websites in return, most of it talking about some unknown stuff and foreign countries pilots.

SQ is having recruitment for cadet pilots... Think I saw the ad last week. What suprised me most is that they have a height requirement!

I don't think height is much of a factor to be a pilot.I've seen tall and short pilots from SIA before.I suppose good/perfect eyesight is the most important factor, and must be fit as well as they need to undergo physical training ( i watched the HK drama Triumph in the sky).May need to have some physics background too(to understand pressure, lift etc).

haha my bro is 185, in aussie doing his air grading now under air force though.

dont think height is really that big a problem =) but female pilots are very rare ?

SIA is not accepting female pilots yet. They might or might not in the near future. Apparently their rationale is... passengers have no confidence in female pilots.

Silkair has 3 female pilots I think.

The rest of the airlines like Qantas, Air India, Air New Zealand, British Airways... I've heard female voices. So they do have female pilots.

Actually, they can't be too short Saw the ad for SQ and they had a min requirement of 1.58m

I applied from Silkair before, my pilot friend passed me the application form. Yes I am a female, I tried coz I know that Silkair has lady pilot, but they are already pilots before they join Silkair, so I just try my luck, and didn't get it :p Probably they only accept ladies from airforce or existing pilots. SIA still don't accept ladies I think.
