I love Anne Sexton's Ballad Of The Lonely Masturbator, islande. So profoundly beautiful.

Plath's extreme self-indulgence is sometimes lost on me, though I do dig some of her more accessible poems. She makes for fascinating study though. Can't wait to catch Sylvia...though I don't like the idea of Gwyneth Paltrow playing her. Ah well, I suppose the producers need to consider box office marketability when choosing the lead.

whoa.. what a title for a book! sounds like a sad book tho'. interesting...

yeah she's quite profound even to me ... i do love some of her more beautiful poems tho'. i don't know if i'll want to catch the movie .. it seems so mass market! but honestly i think Gwneth captures that sad beauty of Plath's.

Ballad Of The Lonely Masturbator's a poem, not a book.

Anne Sexton writes about emotions I feel and things I go through in life, so I feel more connected to her writings than Plath's. Sexton is also not afraid to be politically incorrect, esp during her time (late 50s to early 70s) when women were not quite so liberated. I really applaud her audacity.

I feel Nicole Kidman would've been a better choice to play Plath, but she's already played Virginia Woolf in The Hours. Kidman looks more like Plath than Paltrow anyway.

wow. powerful poem. but very similar to Plath IMO in terms of style!

ah, but Kidman has auburn hair right? Plath has the blondie look but yeah, she hardly resembles Plath, only reminds me of her.

Plath is more, how shall I call it, lyrically obscure? They sure have alot in common though...both suffered from severe depression and both committed suicide at relatively tender ages.

Hair can always be dyed and if Charlize Theron can be transformed into Aileen Wuornos, Kidman can be transformed into Plath with even less effort.
