  • Hot new TV shows

Have you guys never wondered that these reality shows are but? For all you know, each one's been given a script to act out. I seriously think the Bachelor series' survival was based on the non-reality of it.

By the by, I watched the 3-hr special and the moment "letters" was mentioned, I scooted off the sofa. Call me wicked. I really couldn't stand one more second of Lill's sobs.

That's possible. It could all be staged, like wrestling, but it still pulls in the ratings cuz pple like to watch such stuff. I'm a serious reality tv addict...The Amazing Race, The Mole, The Bachelor, Meet The Parents, Temptation Island, Joe Millionaire, American Idol, The Surreal Life, Are You Hot...I love them all, no matter how stupid the premise.

I guess at the end of the day, what pple are seeking is a healthy dose of escapism. I know I am.

Escapism? I think not. It's more voyeurism! Ha ha!

AI is reality TV? Well, truth be told, I was sucked into the very first Bachelor show. And when Temptation Island first came out, I was quite hooked. I did prefer The Amazing Race and The Mole over the rest (I liked the latter better). Ocassionally, The Survivor could be engaging. I don't like watching the less desired human behaviour that surfaced because of the nature of the game. That's life - reality at its ugliest.

I actually sat thru half of High School Reunion and I was bored to tears. Can't believe myself sometimes!

Yeah, it's definitely part voyeurism too. Reality shows really appeal to the kaypoh side of me, and believe me, I am one major kaypoh! Whether or not a show's 'genuine' is beside the point for me.

The stuff that happens in Survivor...all that bitching, backstabbing and strategizing to one's own advantage...move it to an everyday setting...and voila! Office politics! Something most of us deal with everyday. I like to see how the smart players manoeuvre the game and the ho-hum ones whine and unwittingly dig their own graves.

Yeah ***, American Idol is considered a reality show what. It's a singing competition and popularity is based on a voting system. No different from Are You Hot actually.

I didn't get to see High School Reunion, so I dunno what that one's like. But I can't wait to catch A Simple Life, where Paris Hilton and fellow perpetually undressed and wasted party hound Nicole Richie try to live it down (HAH!) like us mere commoners (HAH again!). Should make an interesting watch.

Cate, you might like to know we have yet another reality TV show on Channel i: Paradise Hotel.

Did local TV already air the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey one? Is tuna fish or chicken? LOL!

Talk about the Hilton sisters. These people are filthy rich but so vulgar! Either it's too much skin or too many logos at one go. Ha ha!

Paradise Hotel looks pretty similar to Temptation Island...I have yet to catch it cuz I always forget it's on.

I don't think we have aired the Jessica Simpson-Nick Lachey one yet. Heard that Nick's da man for his ability to put up with Jess' airheadedness (no ordinary level at that, supposedly!).

Paris Hilton is a tramp ???. Period. She only started covering up and wearing dainty Chanel suits instead of loincloths after her porn tape with Rick Solomon surfaced. Just a publicity stunt to convince the public that she's a demure sweet young thing.

Hey Glossie, you should check out The Surreal Life if you haven't already...what happens when you put a buncha celebrity has-beens (think MC Hammer, Vince Neil of Motley Crew, Corey Feldman, etc) in a house and force them to live together for a period of time? Ooh, will egos clash and will there be a battle for domestic supremacy?

Has it? But this is the same premise and setting for a different group of folks. No one gives two hoots about throwing a buncha strangers together to see how they live with each other...ahhh, but throwing a buncha celeb has-beens together is altogether another different tale. The mightiest rules the household, egos clash, interests conflict...in other words, ooh la la!

Cate, you must then enjoy seeing stars (big or small) get Punk'd. Ha ha! I bet you didn't give 2 hoots about feuding in The Family? Another reality show on Channel i. I never caught one episode but I think I saw George Hamilton in it. Hosting, I guess. Gosh, he still looks the same! That gawd-awful tan he's still spotting! LOL.

Dunno if anyone still remembers who the heck they are, but I used to have a thing for the two hard partying Coreys when I was in early secondary...Coreys Haim and Feldman, both of The Lost Boys fame...gawd, I LOVED that show! Although Haim didn't appear in The Surreal Life, but Feldman did...so just thought I'd catch up his progress. Alas, looks like he's really gone nowhere but d-o-w-n after, like, The Goonies.

George Hamilton is like :puke: I couldn't stand him then and I still can't stand him now. He is sooo by-product of the 80s' excesses. Death by bronzing.

I got into movies REAL late too but I think I have an idea of why the guys in The Lost Boys appealed to you For me, it was Kevin Bacon but I only liked him better NOW. Ha ha. Were you one of them who went ga-ga over New Kids On The Block then? This came out of the blue.. hehe.. I'm just wondering.

Definitely!!! I was more than just gaga over NKOTB. I was gaga over them. Malu to admit, but I had major league crushes on Joe McIntyre, Jordan Knight and Donnie Wahlberg back then. Why do you think I'm watching Boston Public (McIntyre) and Boomtown (Wahlberg) now?

                              Old crushes die hard.
