i can't remember names either but i thought the good bbq one in orchard plaza was on L1? in any case... most of the jap restaurants at orchard plaza are good... authentic... lots of locals there...

i thought i read somewhere that there is a new jap bbq (the type with your own stove and wire mesh) like those we see on japan hour... really want to try it... anybody knows where please post here ... thanks!

i just came back from a BBQ jap...

ABURIYA - 60 Robertson Quay, #01-03 The QuaySide...

its the type with your own stove and wire mesh as mention by Crystal...
The food was excellent...ambience was awesome (facing the river)and the service damn good...

Abt 90% of the staffs and customers were japanese....
They served mostly beef...and the beef was good quality types...they have it in set meal or ala crat....

The price is quite steep...abt $40 per person...

i was so full...and the ice cream they served was from haagen Diaz...its really a nice place for friends to chill out...

I second Yakiniku Daidomon. I always go to the one at keypoint though. Just went there 2 weeks ago. Price of buffet dinner increase to $62++ or something. I find that the buffet is quite good as the quality of the food is good although it's buffet. I go there every time i crave for japanese bbq!

I tried Aburiya at Holland V. Thought it was not bad. It's as the other recommendations above, cook yourself kind of bbq.

There's those grill on skewers type of bbq call kushiyaki like Kazu, Kushigin and Shunjuu and Nanbantei.

It is a very Japanese style restaurant. I ate there once... slightly expensive...great for people who love to eat beef....
