  • Pelvic Ultrasound

I kept experiencing lower ab pain...and my menses are so irregular and painful..i even fainted once..i check with my GP and he said it's nothing much and it's normal..but i think otherwise..

I read a newspaper report and they advise people with this problem to go for pelvis ultrasound..

anybody who have done it before? how much does it cost? and any gynae or doc to recommend?

I done mine at my gyne..in fact any gyne..you can check out the thread which recommend gynes (females ones). I forgot how much was mine maybe $40 but I am not sure you would be charged for first consultation as charged by many private specialists. Ultrascan will check for cysts which may account for your ab pain, I scanned because of my severe menses cramps but thankfully no cyst.

    HTH =)

I did mine at my gynae too. Consultation fee is usually $65, and separate charge for the ultrasound.

you can do a pelvis ultrasound at the polyclinic next to national dental centre.
next to outram park MRT station.
it will be much cheaper as its at subsidized price compared to private gyne.

if i remembered correctly, its around $24++ excluding consultation fees, medication etc etc

I've only done ultrasound on my breasts. Painless. You'd feel cold from the gel and the air-con Just get it done soon, Cheria

                Oooo, I must share this!

Now they use a WARMed up gel when they do ultrasounds. It's something so simple and overlooked, yet when they started warming up the gel before using them, wow, what a difference it made to the ultrasound experience!

                  Hi girl!

I suggest you go do a pelvic ultrasound asap.. My colleague went for it recently.. and discovered that she has a tumor in her bladder and she went for operation already..it's a success coz early discovery..she's only in her 20's.. but thankfully, everything is ok in the end..

not sure what's her synthoms before her discovery though.. i went for the ultrasound recently as part of my medical screening.. well, it's painless.. the doctor will put a gel over your lower ab area.. and use a small "tool" and press lightly over it.. the entire process last around 5 - 10 minutes..

Before that you need to drink lots of water till you have those wanna pee feeling..

I did mine at Raffles Hospital.. If you want affordable fees, you can go to poly clinics.. think it's better to go for a check to have a peace of mind..but im sure things will be fine. don't worry k?

I had the same problem and went for an ultrasound. Don't worry it's not painful at all. In fact, you can't feel a thing! The only irritating part is that you'll need to have a full bladder before you do the ultrasound.

dont worry it isnt painful at all.

just remember prior the u/s drink lots of water until you have the feeling of wanting to "pass it out". the water will act as a form of like a mirror in your body for the gynae to see better during the u/s test.

what he/she will do is apply some gel on your lower abdomen and that's where he/she can see if there are any abnormal growth in you.

for me, usually I will have an u/s done together with my pap on a yearly basis.

Cheria, you better go for checkup. I was experiencing similar symptoms and my classmate noticed my tummy growing (as if pregnant). After the ultrasound, doc detected the ovarian cyst of 16.8cm. Fortunately it was benign.

Some of my friends weren't this lucky. They tolerate with the cramps and thought it was nothing. The cyst grew bigger and burst the ovary. One even have to undergo chemo as it was cancerous.

Do not take it too lightly. Get it check and if everything turn out fine, at least you will have a peace of mind. BTW, try to go for the scan apprx 10 days after your menses. The gynae said IIRC that its the best time to do the ultra-sound.

Oh...I had it done 1.5 yr's back at KKH with pte consultant too and it cost like $140. That excludes the consultant's fee too. How come yours was cheaper??
