    any idea of sinus?

i don't know whether i have sinus or not as my nose always got mucus, and it is really sticky and yellow, it is very hard to blow out.

sounds more like infection from the sinus. If you have clear watery mucus and tends to sneeze that is more likely sinus. Think you better seek medical attention

cut and pasted off various websites.....

Sinuses usually refer to the air cavities in the cranial bones, especially those near the nose and connecting to it.

      What is Sinusitis?

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria. It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complications.

Normally, mucus collecting in the sinuses drains into the nasal passages. When you have a cold or allergy attack, your sinuses become inflamed and are unable to drain. This can lead to congestion and infection. Diagnosis of acute sinusitis usually is based on a physical examination and a discussion of your symptoms. Your doctor also may use x-rays of your sinuses or obtain a sample of your nasal discharge to test for bacteria.

      When Acute Sinusitis Becomes Chronic

When you have frequent sinusitis, or the infection lasts three months or more, it could be chronic sinusitis. Symptoms of chronic sinusitis may be less severe than those of acute; however, untreated chronic sinusitis can cause damage to the sinuses and cheekbones that sometimes requires surgery to repair.

I have allergic rhinitis which can 'deteriorate' into sinusitis easily and from all those consultations with my GP, i know only too well that i need antibiotics once the mucus is yellowish/greenish And when i get sinus infection, my doctor will tell me to stay away from nasal spray until the infection clears so as not to aggravate the condition further. So it's quite different from what your doctor advised you of to use the nasal spray...

i also not very sure. but most of the doctors recommend we use salt water to wash our nose every day.
the sea water spray similar to the salt water we make at home.

is yours nose drip or spray?

i don't have sinusitis but i have a super allergic nose and i get sinus like every other day. i'm also on nasal spray but my doctor recommended me to go for an operation to remove the 'extra lump' in my nose for me to breathe easier. however, doesnt mean that the operation will solve the problem once and for all cause the lump might grow back again. yucks. and i totally hate the nasal spray!!! my condition is not improving even if i use the spray. IMO, you can try out the nasal spray. if it really doesn't work, consult your specialist again and see what he has to recommend. for myself, medication no longer works well too. so, i have to bear with it until i made up my mind for the operation.

i'm using the same kinda nasal spray too by spraying directly into the nose. actually, don't have to worry so much. since the doctor prescribed the medication to you, i suppose its pretty safe. if *touchwood* you get allgeries to it, stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.

i just hate the feeling of nasal spray especialyl when it 'choked' me but i had to admit its good in stopping the congestion of my nose.

mine is a spray one...actually i used in 2003 for 1 mth..i didnt like it so i didnt continue..
now it has worsened so i ve no choice but to use it again.
my doc ask ** to consider the spray first, in the meantime..he gave me some pills meant for uncongestion of the nose.

does ur nose spray wash help?

but how do we use the salt water to wash our nose? pour the whole thing in? wont it choke?

i can understand how you all feel abt the nasal sprays..i tried it before and i didnt like it.
the doc showed me the lump in my nose...its very red..those bleeding red..he didnt recommend me to remove it. but he said if i dont go on the nasal spray, i will ve a v bad blocked nose and then the flu will come...

what happened just 1 wk ago was that the sinusitis acted up and then my cold sores came...
i think i will give the spray a try...at least i do not need to breathe with a blocked nose...

hey! i also have the "extra lumps" in my nose..! but sometimes (when my nose is in good form.. rarely..) they "disappear"..

anyway, i think better dont do the surgery..! at least that was what i was advised. because my ex colleague's friend was on medication before she decided to get the surgery.. but it wasnt effective.. the problem persist.. plus it was EX and VERY PAINFUL! she said medication is better..

btw, which docs do u all go to? n how's the charges for consulation and medicine? have this problem since young..(or birth..??) but my parents didnt bother to get me a specialist.. sigh. anyway, now that i've started working.. i can seek treatment for this annoying condition myself..
