    girl, see a doc now.
it might be a case of ur blood vessels burst.

        okie..that's good..
yes, when eyes are red, avoid lens at all expenses!!
u wont want to be blind!!!!

causes of the blood clot could be due to lack of oxygen bcuz of lens?
        lens dirty?

i woke up this morning with slightly irritable and dry eyes... so i used a few drops of eye drops and it eased the miscomfort. then when i went to look at the mirror, saw a small red spot on my eye white - scared me big time.

felt somewhat relieved to have read yvannie's post. i must have rubbed or scratched my eye and caused it to bruised beneath. but i'm still going to the doc now to ease my mind.
btw, do i have to go to an eye doc for this or my regular GP will do?

          TIA!

            i got that before.

What happened to me was i think some foreign particles get into my eye and the next morning, i woke up seeing a red spot on the white part of the eye. Was dead worried cos it's so ugly.

Lucky it went away a few days later. But you girls may just wanna consult a GP or eye specialist to be sure. Or rinse with eye wash or eye drops.

I think you can see a GP first, he will be to check whether its a bruise or anything serious..

Some are born with red eye spots. Like me. Am still praying it will go away one day.

                  subconjunctival hemorrhage

after reading the posts here, i figured it's a common thing, even my colleague agreed so.
but just to set my mind at ease, i went to my company doc for a simple consultation. he said the medical term is called subconjunctival hemorrhage - literally meaning "underneath membrane bleeding". this usually happens when the eye is dry, so the membrane clings on more closely to the blood vessels.... hence any external irritation, rubbing or even sneezing/ coughing can cause the blood vessel to tear more easily, thus the red spot on the eye white.

he said it's nothing to be worried about, no pain, no harm... and mine's just a red dot (very mild case), will go away in couple day's time. after that, he gave me an eye drop to keep my eyes lubricated.

(warning: the pic. of the bloody eye on this site looks much scarier than most of our typical cases)
