Quick first thing get your bands settled.... it takes a while if it has to be custom made or if they dun have your size ready made.

Then decide on your gown/dress etc.

I'm also in a panic... cos I have not buy my shoes and accessories too.

27th march... sounds familiar... a friend is getting ROM then too.... err... what are your SO's initials? Maybe he's my fren!

if you want something unique and sorta ethnic

why not wear a white or cream sarong kebaya? (is this the two piece with the tight fitted sheer top and a long skirt)

this will look really pretty! i can imagine an ivory skirt sheer cream or ivory top..think it will look gorgeous!

        Hey CoNGRATS!!!

The Nonya outfit sounds really cool! Go for it!

As for rings, it's best u start shopping for it as early as you can. It's hard to tell you where to buy - taste is just too personal, isn't it?

My hubs & I had a hard time finding one we liked. We were going for a plain white band look but you wouldn't believe how difficut it was to find a nice one. after an exhaustive search, we found the perfect plain ones at BP de Silva. Most of the shops here put too much "design" in their rings. I hate that.

Or skip the top and wear a nice piece of lingerie inside, then top of with a nice lacy Kebaya top.... mmmmm nice!

                Congras!!!

Yup, like what others have said go and look for the ring first! Many places if yours in mind is not a complicated one (not custom make)...Lee Hwa, Aspial, Soo Kee....

I got mine from Aspial(aka Lee Hwa). A simple design from the Kizoki(sp?) range.

Nonya Baba 2-pc - look around Orchard Point, Scotts shopping Centre level 1 near the washrooms.

                  WHOAH!! Congrats, skinart!! :D

I think the other gals here know more than me about rings, but I got my rings from Aspial and Goldheart. Reasonable prices and I'm not too particular about design...I just wanted something simple, so that wasn't hard to find!

Congrats to you. I know of a shop near Tiopng Bahru Market call 'MArgret.. " Cant remember the exact name. They specialise in Kebaya, nonya baba style clothing. My friend made two pieces there. Prices are abt 100 plus to 200 plus. :o:

                      phwoar!!!!!! CONGRATS!

if you have time, might wanna consider going up Malacca over the weekend or something. they have lotsa pretty nonya stuff (shoes, clothes etc) and much much cheaper than in SG!

there's supposed to be a shop/tailor in Thomson Plaza that does peranakan stuff too. but i'm not sure where exactly.

Congrats An acquaintance of mine wore peranakan beaded slippers for her wedding dinner (she beaded them herself). Not sure whether of use considering not that much time left, and daytime you probably don't need beaded slippers (not mention the beads could get scuffed off in all that activity).

I think a kebaya would look fabulous. Was considering wearing that or a cheongsam for my ROM in July too.

I second Vixette's suggestion about going to Malacca to have it custom made. It's not very expensive and it's a good excuse to get away for the weekend.
