Dreamcatchers are an authentic American Indian tradition from the Ojibwe tribe. Ojibwe people would tie sinew strands in a web around a small round shaped frame and hang these dreamcatchers as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares.
The legend is that bad dreams will get caught in the web and only the good dreams will pass through. Some claim that though they have bad dreams, they are unable to recall what they dreamt about the night before.
